Timetoast! Day 1
Mr. Hyman knows more about technology than I do. I'm glad that he takes the time to share his knowledge with us. I think this timeline is a cool idea! I'm really excited to order a Varsity Calculus T-shirt!! I wonder what the back should say....hmm. I'll have to think about that! -

Integration/KYSC Review
Today we reviewed the most important things from AB: basic integration, differentiation rules, and derivatives of trig functions. The ones I need to work on memorizing are arcsec, arcsin, arccos, arctan, and arccot. I should also work to remember the change of base formula. Today was a great day in calc! But we didn't have a Weird Fact of the Day :(
Here's one that I found:
More people use blue toothburshes than red ones! -
Diff Eq, Slope Fields, and Euler's Method
YAY more review on differntial equations, slope fields, and Euler's method!! Today in class was very refreshing. I had forgotten how much I enjoy separating variables and integrating. I also feel reassured that if a slope field comes up on the AP, it will be a pice of cake. Today we DID have a weird fact of the day :) but I have a another one anyway:
Plants can suffer from jet lag. -
Partner Work
Today in class, we completed 3 AP test problems. My partner was Amal. We worked well together for the first and third problems, but disagreed slightly for half of the second problem. This tells me that I need to review what to do when finding area that is beneath the x-axis. Other than that, I'd say that today was mostly a success! My weird fact of the day:
The 1200 foot Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore is the second longest continuous truss bridge in the nation. -
Partner Work Part 2
Today in class we did more AP practice free response problems, except this time a calculator was not allowed. Amal, Lizzy, and I worked well to solve the three problems. I'm really glad we were able to discuss justifications for our answers; I was able to reinforce my conceptual understanding of the relationship between f(x) and its first and second derivatives. My weird fact of the day:
A giraffe is able to clean its ears with its own tongue. -
Sequence and Series Review Day
I'm very grateful Mr. Hyman reviewed sequences (a SET of #s) and series (a SUM of #s) with us today. Today's powerpoint jogged my memory for a lot of facts, though they sometimes spilled out of my mouth not in the right order. I'm also glad we went over the tests for convergence! I thought I had saved my chart, but when I went back to look for it I couldn't find it :( Weird Fact:
Animal Crackers come in 18 different animal shapes!
