A cold storm was raging in Moscow when I was born. My mother and father have decided in giving me the name Atyom to celebrate my great health despite the frigid cold I was born in. -
Opportunity
It is beore my 16th birthday and my parents have a surprise. In Russia, a child merely lives, eats, and learns to become an adult woman or man, For a child to become a man or woman, they have to complete a task. Most of my people would go to a place and work and build for our country. For me to become a man, my parents had something special in mind. They came to me and told me that I am moving to America. By the time I am in the landof opportunity, I will be 16. -
Voyage
The cold winter has ended, and I've done all I could for my parents before I bade them farewell and wished them their goodwill. The boat was packed with people wishing to go over. I didn't know that this many peole would want to go. -
Land
I heard from some friends that it would take a long while for us to cross the Atlantic Ocean to reach Ellis Island. It took a grueling 15 days to get there. At first, we all stood agape at the statue of liberty as it stood tall and proudin the harbor. Then we all cheered as we reached the harbor and even embraced ones that are close to us. It was my first time I shared an intimate moment with a beautiful woman. -
Job
I was a new person in this country, a stranger, and I needed a place to stay and food to eat. I was given a job a many irish people as we set about consstructing. I was a man that in a way, supervised the entire area and was the brains behind constructing. The Irish enjoyed working together and I normally help them out when I can. We even had a lunch break on an area that could mean certain death. -
Promotion
It finally paid off! I have achieved my goal. I now am a successful man that has worked many years as a construction boss. The Irish men I worked with at first are on with their lives now. We are all friends in high places and we enjoy meetings with each other. I own a contruction company that is currently building many buildings in the midwest and Chicago. I pray that my children will be able to take up in my name.
