The years between 1547 and 1560 are known as Ivan's "good period" because he was a good and prosperous leader. -

When Ivan's wife, Anastasia died in 1560 he was not right from there on out. This marked his "bad period". -

Tragedy
In a fight involving his oldest son Ivan killed him. Three years later Ivan died. -
Romanov Dynasty
In 1613 the first Romanov was chosen, he was Michael Romanov. This started the Romanov Dynasty which lasted until 1917.

Peter the Great
He became ruler of Russia in 1696. -
The "Grand Embassy"
He went on a long visit to western Europe in 1697 called The "Grand Embassy". -
Reform
After coming back from Europe he gave himself more power and made a bigger army. -
Westernizing Russia
Also after coming back from Europe he brought back potatoes and the printing press. -
St. Petersburg
He wanted a seaport so he built a city on the Baltic coast and he named it St. Petersburg. He died in 1725.
