  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The war caused Britain to be in debt which is why they started to tax the colonists. From the effects of the war, Great Britain became more weak and vulnerable so the colonists could easily use that as an advantage. The French became interested in being on the colonists "team" and they helped them fight in the revolutionary war against Britain
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    When the Sugar Act was passed, many colonists weren't bothered on it. However, when the Stamp Act was passed, The British were allowed to tax the colonist directly. This upset the colonist and is one of the reasons that pushed them to declare a Revolutionary War.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    In 1770 the Boston Massacre got the colonist very angry. 3 Years later, the colonist threw tea on the Boston harbor. The British were very furious. They passed very cruel laws as a form of punishment to the colonist. Even though they got punished, this was one of the first times the colonist fought against their own government, this helped push them towards the war.

    The Treaty of Paris ended to Revolutionary war, which started in 1775. The Treaty of Paris declared Americas independence and America was finally free to create their own government.

    The Constitution becomes supreme law of the land
    The Constitution was a major step in the upcoming of America. It split the government into the Legislative, executive, and judicial branches and had a system of checks and balances which allowed for there to be equal control. There was also a list of amendments which includes Freedom of Speech and Freedom of religion.
