Mexican government tried to get the cannon back to protect themselves from the Texas instead of them being saved. the Gonzalez got a wedding dress and put a star and also wrote 'Come and take it". it was also filled with scrap metal to shoot with. on the morning of October 21 the Texans attacked the Mexican camp and then the cannon fired. both of the battles are considered the first battle of resolution
