Carlo Maderno
One well known architects of the baroque period included Carlo Maderno who lived in the early baroque, whom constructed the facade of Saint Peter's Basilica. The Basilica included double columns and broken pediments which are common in the baroque period; his style was mimicked by others later in the baroque period. -
Peter Paul Rubens paints The Descent from the Cross
Peter Paul Rubens was the most renowned northern European artist of his day. In 1611, Rudens finished The Descent from the Cross which was painted with a characteristically baroque sense of movement and tactile strength. -

Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini
Two other well-known names were Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini (1625-1675) who worked in the high baroque. Bernini’s most profound works were the baldachin and the curving colonnades that frame St Peter's Square. Borromini’s most known work was the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, from this and the rest of his works he was known to be a master of curved wall architecture. -

One famous composer in the baroque time period was Antonio Vivaldi, an Italian composer whom happened to go into the wrong field of interest at first. He later found music as his true calling and ended up writing 500 concertos, 46 symphonies, 73 sonatas, chamber music and a small number of sacred compositions. -
