slowly increases vocabulary to four to six words. may use sounds to indicate specific objects.the toddler my try to Imitate word others say. The toddler enjoys solitary play and playing with others.he/she recognizes self in the mirror and trys to communicate with sounds -
16-18 physical development
may be able to walke sidways at 16 months. stands on either foot with support.the toddler improves throwing motion, first using whole body, then using just arm movements. for small motor skills the toddler may show hand perference in all activites and may turn the knobs on radio and on the tv -
16-18 congnitive development
Vocabulary increases to six to ten words. Uses words instated of gestures to express something he wants for example “up”, or “cookie”. May punch or poke other toddlers for a toy or a food. Hands object to a parent. Likes to chase and be chased. And may use two-word phrases -
19-21 physical development
For large motor skill the toddler loves to run, jump and climb. Runs without falling often. Walks up and down the stairs. The toddler holds container in one hand, puts small objects into it with other hand, then dumps the objects out. Can fold piece paper once imitating demonstration -
19-21 congnitive development
Has vocabulary of about 20 words. Enjoys labeling objects and parts of body. Understand some personal pronouns such as me. May enjoy removing cloths and is not embarrassed at being naked and loves to run around naked. responds less quickly to requests, and may respond opposite manner -
22-24 congnitive development
Has vocabulary of 50 or more words. At this age The toddler starts to ask a lot of questions for example "what's that" and "where is the doggie". The toddler displays signs of love for parents and other favorite people. He or she also recognizes own power to be effective. -
22-24 physical development
Walks with more coordination and assurance. Bounces And sways in simple dancing movements. jumps with both feet off the floor. Snaps paper with scissors holds crayon with thumb and fingers and likes to play with modeling clay. -
24-30 physical development
The toddler enjoys running but is unable to measure sudden stops it may collide with other people or obstacles. Climbs everywhere indoors even in forbidden places. Can remove wrapping from gum and candy. can carefully turn pages of book and likes to take jar lid off and screw them back in. -
24-30 congnitive development
Vocabulary starts at 200 words and increases to 500 or more in this period of time. The toddler uses two word sentences, refers to self by name then learns to use pronouns and enjoys learning names of new objects. The toddler continues to seek parental approval for behaviors and accomplishments. Likes to play near other children but is unable to play cooperatively -
30-36 physical development
At this time Toddler enjoys games involving running he or she goes upstairs by alternating feet, but goes down 1 foot at a time. Sits in adult chairs and may prefer these instead of smaller chairs. throws a ball overhead but aim is still poor. Eats with a fork makes mud pies or sand castles. takes objects apart and puts them back together -
30-36 congnitive development
Vocabulary starts at about 500 words and increases to 900 or 1000 at this period of time Creates 2 to 3 word sentences including verbs. Continues to feels a strong sense of ownership but May give up toy if offered a substitute. Connects names and uses of objects.
