Baby develop timeline

  • month 1

    makes eye contact, cries for help, responds to parents smiles and voices.
  • month 2

    begins to develop a social smile, enjoys playing with other people but may cry when the playing stops, prefers looking at people rather than objects, coos in response to sounds around her
  • month 3

    starts "conversations" by smiling and gurgling, smiles back at you, can imitate some movements and facial expressions
  • month 4

    intrigued by children, will turn to their voices whether in real life or television, laughs when tickled
  • month 5

    becomes more and more assertive, can tell a difference between people (mom, dad, sibling, or stranger), likes to play during meals
  • month 6

    may get tired of a new toy but never your attention, recognizes their own name, coos for pleasure and cries with displeasure, makes noises such as grunts or squeaks.
  • month 7

    understands "no", likes to be socially active, expresses anger more strongly, tries to mimic adult sounds/words.
  • month 8

    knows whether something is familiar or not, can become shy or anxious with strangers, cries in frustration when they cant reach something or gets told no
  • month 9

    imitates gestures, looks at the correct thing named, smiles and kisses, likes to be ner parent, may be more sensitive around other kids
  • month 10

    separation anxiety, self esteem develops, responds to clapping, becomes more cautious and careful, shows more motions (happy, sad, scared, mad)
  • month 11

    tries to gain approval and avoids disapproval, can be very uncooperative at times
  • month 12

    may throw temper tantrums, can fluctuate between being good and bad, shoes development of humor, become clingy to parents or just one in particular
