The following year a new temple at Tenochtitlán was built that was dedicated to the gods. After it was built, a ceremony where up to 20,000 prisoners of war were sacrificed at the altar. -

He is accompanied by 600 soldiers. -

Cortés leaves to combat a rival Spanish force on the coast, and when he gets back, Cortés finds the Spanish garrison in Tenochtitlán besieged by the Aztecs. -
