Authorized agencies can reproduce and / or translate or distribute nondramatic literary work in specialized formats exclusively for use by blind or other persons with disabilities.

Rehabilitation Act, 1973; amended 1992, 1998

Section 504 prohibits discrimination due to disability.
section 508 requires that electronic & information technology be accessible to people with disabilities.

IDEA 2004 - AT, FAPE, UD

2004

Districts must provide AT to all students with disabilities if needed to receive FAPE. IEP Teams must specify any devices / services, from low to high tech. Includes non school settings. To the extent feasible, use UD principles when developing & administering any statewide/district assessment.

Assistive Technology Act

2004

This law affirms that technology is a valuable tool that can be used to improve the lives of Americans with Disabilities. It supports states by providing federal funds in order to address AT needs of people with disabilities.
