Governor Ronald Reagan recommrended President Gerald Ford to nominate Anthony Kennedy to the seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circut.
Kennedy was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on March, 20,1975. -

Kennedy was nominated to the Supreme Court. -
Kennedy's opinion
Kennedy wrote the court's opinion in Lawrence vs. Texas, which invalidated criminal laws against homosexuality on the basis of due process clause of the United States constitution. Kennedy sided with the more libral members of the court. -
Gun Control
Kennedy jooined the majority in the District of Columbia vs. Heller. This struct down the ban on handguns in the District of Columbia. The issue had been whether Washington DC's ban on handguns violated the right to "keep and bear arms" prevent people from having guns in their homes. Kennedy sided with the conservatives on the court. They belived they recognized the second Amendment, a person's right to keep and bear arms.
