Asian American for equal employment
This became Asian American for equality. Six years later AAFE hired its first executive director, Doris Koo, who led the transition to a fill non- profit organization with a talents professional staff. -

AAFE was the first group in NYC to utilize the low- come housing tax credit to help develop affordable housing. Known as the Equality House -
Becoming a community
a very bad fire ripped through a tenement in China town which killed two elderly people and leaving 125 residents without a home. With that tragedy AAFE leaders came together with a decision that protesting and advocating would not work instead they created hands on solutions to overcome and address the housing crisis they desperately needed. -
Helping immgrant small business
Renaissance economic development corporation became a community development finical institution known as the (CDF) which help dispense low interest for small business loans as well as providing training. -
Immigrant entrepreneurs
a second CDF was created, AAFE community development fund to help with loans and provide finical education programs to families seeking to buy their first house -
Non- Profit
AAFE became the first non- profit organizations to participate in NYC affordable Neighborhoods cooperative program (ANCP) -
AAFE Today
AAFE has become a nationally organization to remain true to its founding ideals. AAFE employees are deeply rooted in the communities they serve.
