U.S Reaction
The United States military was not as strong as it is today.The Ottoman Empire was one of the most powerful forces in the world. The US couldnt do much but to help them after it was done. -
Russia Takes over
Russia defeated the Otterman Empire in a campaign in the winter of 1914. The government then made the Armenian community a scapegoat for the military losses that had occurred at the hands of the Russians. -
The killing begins
The lowest class which was the poor were aimed for first. Over 5,000 were killed in their homes and in streets. -
Armenian Children
There were about 3.00o children left as orphans -
Women Help children
Women were in houses looking after their own children and orphans. -
Sufferings
Women were raped and the old ones were tortured from beatings. Children had to go into slavery. -
Terrorizing poeple
Dead poeple layed in the streets or were hung on poles. Other were set onto dath marches. There excuse was that they were being deported due to bad weather conditions. -
Death Marches
Deportation of Armenians became known as death marches. They were led around in circles without being allowed to stop, eat or drink. -
Torture
Many Armenians such as women, elderly, and children were isolated. Men were sent to death camps. They were all slaughtered, even in fornt of their families. -
Burning Of Children
The biggest mass burning of children was in Bitlis. Armenian women and children were burnt alive in their orphanage. -
Method of Killing: Starvation
Armenians lacked nutrion and became very thing and weak. This was one of the ways that the turks killed them. -
Children
A mass amount of children died during the Armenian genocide. It is equal to the amount that died as adults. -
Denial
Turks begin to deny the Armenian genocide by excluding it from their studies and prohibiting people to talk about it, -
Saving Their Own Lives
To save their own lives, Armenians were adopted into the muslin religion.
