Anne feels she doesn't fit in with her family.
Anne feels she doesn't fit in with her family because "They're so sentimental together, but [she'd] rather be sentimental on [her] own. They're always saying how nice it is with the four of [them], and that [they] get along so well, without giving a moment's thought to the fact that [she] [doesn't] feel that way" (Frank 89). This shows why Anne always wrote in her diary because she never felt close to her family, but in-fact, she felt very close to her diary -
Anne Frank claims that she will write dirty jokes.
"I'll use this spoiled page to write down 'dirty jokes,'" (Frank 199). She describes her period as, "a sign that she is ripe to have relations with a man" (Frank 200). This shows that Frank was starting to mature and was opening her feelings to the diary because she never felt close to her mother or sister. -

Hitler commits suicide as Soviet troops close in on his bunker in Berlin. Eight days later, Germany surrenders to end World War Two in Europe. Otto Frank was the only occupant of the Secret Annex to survive. Miep Gies saved Anne's diary following the raid on the annex and returned it, unread, to Otto after the war (bbc.co.uk). -

Anne's diary is first published in Dutch. It has now been translated into 50 languages and is one of the world's most popular books (bbc.co.uk).
