Although this rhesus monkey did not make a big story in the papers he is forever known as first animal in space. He was launched from New Mexico in a V-2 Blossom.

Unanaesthetized Mouse

Launched in a V-2 this American mouse survived impact and was photographed in flight.

Albert 2

Jun 14, 1949

Albert 2, an Air Force Aeromedica Labratory Monkey was launched in a V-2 flight carrier. He attained an altitude of 83 miles and died immediatly.

Albert 4

Dec 12, 1949

This rhesus monkey was attached to monitering instruments and his flight was a sucess, until Albert died on impact.

Laika

Nov 3, 1957

This Russian dog was launched on the Soviet Sputnik 2 without a re entry plan. However, this dog was the first living animal to enter orbit. Laika was monitered with different tests during her flight and even wore a special made space suit.
