  • End of the French and Indian War

    End of the French and Indian War
    Know as the seven year war. The Treaty of Paris was signed and ended with British victory.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Forbade all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. Led by King George III. This event happen at the end of the French and Indian War to make colonist have little access with the Native Americans.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    Stamp Act of 1765
    British imposed a direct tax on the colonies of America. Colonist had to help pay for the war. They had to pay tax on every piece of paper such as legal documents, licenses, newspaper, playing cards, etc.
  • Quartering Act of 1765

    Colonist had to provide for the basic needs of soldiers stationed within its borders. They had to provide bedding, cooking utensils, firewood, and candles to the soldiers with out question.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Know as the First Congress, its plan was to protest against the recently passed law. Delegates from each colony would have a meeting to discuss it.

    Known as a street fight between the Patriots and the British. It became one of the greatest contributing factors to the War for American Independence.

    The goal was to dump massive loads of tea to help financially and help the company survive. It was designed to help the East Indian Company.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group of Massachusetts colonist disguised themselves as Indians and dumped 342 containers of tea into the Boston Harbor. This was a protest to the British.

    Was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies (except Georgia) They met to discuss the response to the Intolerable Acts

    They were harsh laws passed in order to punish the American colonist for the previous protest they committed. By doing this they pushed war against the colonist and Great Britain
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    First Battle of the American Revolution War. Known as the shots fired from around the world. British troops marched to try to get colonist weapons. Suddenly an out break occurred between the British and the American Colonist.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Delegates met in Philadelphia and moved toward Independence.
  • New York Campaign (Battle of Long Island)

    New York Campaign (Battle of Long Island)
    Also known as the Battle of Brooklyn, took place after the United States declared its independence on July 4, 1776. It was a defeat for the Continental Army under General George Washington. It was a victory for the British and gave them control over New York.
  • Battle of Princeton

    With a surprise attack George Washington army defeated British army
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    Was a turning point for the American Revolution. With the American victory by the surrender of the British caused the French to enter the war and become allies with the Americans
  • Southern Campaign

    Southern Campaign
    Deals mainly within the Southern States. The Revolution was won in the South. The Battle of Cowpens played a major role in its victory as well.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Considered last major battle in the Revolution. General George Washington won a victory against the British Army. General Cornwallis surrendered which ended the America Revolution
  • Articles of Confederation

    Articles of Confederation
    Written by John Dickerson, it became the first written constitution of the United States. It had 13 different Articles for each state where the states remained Independent.
  • Constitutional Convention

    Constitutional Convention
    Took place at Independence Hall. It addressed problems within the government due to the Articles of Confederation
  • Ratification of the Constitution

    Ratification of the Constitution
    The oldest written constitution in the world. It took 10 months to first approve the constitution. The first state to agree was Delaware. New Hampshire was the last state needed to approve the Constitution. It became a frame work for a new and stronger government.
