The French and Indian War
It was a war between England and France that was part of a series of wars between them called the Seven Years war. In that particular war France and England were fighting to take control of the Ohio valley and England had won and had taken control of the Ohio valley and the area around it. The war ended with the treaty of Paris. -

The Proclamation of 1763
King George III had issued a proclamation that forbidden colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. He hoped that the proclamation will calm down native americans who fought against the british in the French and Indian war. The proclamation's effect really ended a bit after the revolution. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar act was part of a series of acts made by the British parliament. The act required stores and other sellers to have sugar rations. Not only that but they added a tax on the sugar. Colonist were not happy with it. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a tax on all legal documents and papers. Including newspapers and ship papers. -
The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act was part of a series of acts made by the British parliament. This act allowed British soldiers to have accommodation and housing from colonist. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a street fight between colonist (that were considered patriots) who were throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks vs. squad of British soldiers. The soldiers were sent to control the Boston colonist from rebellion. The soldiers were ordered not to shoot. However they did shoot after a 17-year speech-writer yelled in their face and he was the first to die after several colonist were killed. This news spread and it angered many colonist. This started a huge rebellion. -
The Battle of Alamance
This was the final battle of the war of regulations, which was an uprising movement in colonial North Carolina which colonist took arms against colonial officials. The war was about taxes and rules colonist didn't like etc. -
The Tea Act and the Boston Tea Party
On April 27, 1773 the Tea Act was put into place by the British parliament. The Tea Act lowered tax on British tea. However they tightened security on boats and imports so that smugglers would have a really hard time smuggling tea. This made the colonist who used smuggled tea mad. Later the Boston Tea Party happened. It was a political protest by Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty. They dressed up as Native Americans and dumped tea out of a ship of imports. This was the start of something big. -
The Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were harsh laws passed to punish the colonist for the Boston Tea Party and other protests. The Acts were the Boston Port Act (which closed all the ports), the Massachusetts Government Act (they took away the little government the colonist had), the Quartering Act (let British soldiers live in their houses etc),
