Virgina Company landed on Jamestown Island. -
Virginia House of Burgesses
Governor George Yeardley immediately gave notice that the Virginia colony would establish a legislative assembly. This was called the House of Burgesses. -
Bacon's Rebellion
THis was an armered rebellion against Governor William Berkeley Led by Nathaniel Bacon. -
Salem Witch Trials
This was the execution of 20 people, mostly women accused of witchcraft. -
John Peter Zenger
He was accused of Libel which means opposing the goverenment. -
French and Indian War
Was known as the "seven years" war. The war was fought between the colonies of British America and New France. Fought over land. -
Proclamation of 1763
King Geroga the 3rd made the rule no colonial settelment west of the Apps. -
Stamp Act
British Parliment set in place an act which made all American colonies pay taxes on every peice of paper they used. -
Quartering Act
The act saided that troops could only be hiused in barracks and if there wasn't enough space in barracks then they were to be housed in public houses. -
Declaratory Act
This act repealed the Stamp Act. It stated American Colonies were taxed the same as people in Great Britian. -
Boston Massacre
Many American Colonist where throwing snow balls, sticks, and rocks at the Red coats guarding a building. The Red Coats responded by firing on unarmer citizens. Killing 5 and wounding 6. -
Tea Act
Their was a large amount of tea that was sold at very low prices which under cut the market of the American Colonies. -
Boston Tea Party
American Colonist dressed as Native Americans and threw over tons of tea into the harbor. -
1st Continental Congress
The first Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia. -
2nd Continental Congress
A convention of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies that started meeting in the summer of 1775, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, soon after warfare in the American Revolutionary War had begun. -
Declaration of Independence
Stated the thirteen newly independent sovereign states, and no longer a part of the British Empire.
