French & Indian War
The French and Indian War happened because the British wanted the French to “withdraw” the Ohio River Valley. George W. went out of his way by requesting them to leave the fort but they ignored his request. There were some disadvantages between the two, the French were under a single government, the Colonial government as they had 13 separate governments and the British has more setter than the French so they team up with Native American tribes and support from Spain. In the end the British won. -
Quartering Act
Start and ending in 1765-1770. The colonist is required to share their home with the British soldier. The cause of this problem was because French & Indian War. The British made the colonist pay for the soldier's stay, which bring the colonist into a rage. -
Townshend Acts
The British want to rise the price of almost everyday items. The colonist was not pleased by these acts and refused to buy anything the British had imported. There the colonist was not represented in the Parliament and believed it was an abuse of power. This was repealed in April of 1770. -
Boston Massacre
The colonists in Boston were not pleased to see the British more solid roming around the area so, they provoke them which lead to some dead. The colonists wanted them to leave the land by framing them as murderers who killed their own kind but that wasn't true. They were found innocent, which provide that the colonist hate them in their guts. -
Declaration of Independence
It was created on July 4th, 1776 but was officially signed on August 2nd, 1776. The cause of the declaration of Independence is that the British were taxing too much and abusing their power. The Americans want to revolt and have their own nation, to be ruled not by a king or queen or by a single person, but by their own free will their own government. -
Valley Forge
Valley Forge happened between 1777-1778 in winter. During those time a disease broke out killing many people but was able to find a way to prevent others(healthy) from dying. Baron Friedrich W. von S. helped trained the colonist more soldiers and discipline them for the best and taught them a new way to attack the British force by getting in a close rage. Not only that but helps re-enforce the battle front line during battles. -
Battle of Yorktown
Started and ended on Sept 28, 1781, to Oct 19, 1781. The British force was waiting for supplies and reinforcement from Britain but before they could, France and the colonists attacked them before they could. The British surrendered to the colonists, they need supplies and reinforcement, second, they lacked the finances to raise their army. After their surrender, the British government negotiated with the Americans with a treaty that was held in Paris. -
Treaty of Paris
It was officially signed on Sept. 3rd, 1783. The treaty took place in Paris, France, the treaty was drafted on Nov. 30rd 1782 and it officially took off on May 12th, 1783. The cause of the Treaty of Paris is when the British surrendered to the colonist during the battle of Yorktown. After signing the treaty, Great Britain officials recognized the colonist as an independent nation. The colonist took off, grew, and explained to the west.
