  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    The American colonies were becoming very successful when it came to wealth and trade, so the English Parliament made a series of laws stating that foreign ships could not trade anywhere else except for England.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The British Parliament decided they would put a tax on all newspapers, legal documents, and commercial documents in the colonies. The way people knew a document was taxed was if it had a stamp on it.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Parliament of Great Britain taxed paper, lead, tea, glass, and paint when it was being imported to their colonies. This also started "No taxation without representation".
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    An incident that happened between British soldiers and the Patriots. It became a massacre because during the incident, a good number of people were either killed or wounded badly.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The British Parliament wanted to monopolize tea sales so they put a tax on the tea. The Tea Act caused people from the Sons of Liberty to destroy many pounds of tea in the Boston Harbor, which resulted in the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    A serious of acts that were passed by the British Parliament to punish the people of Massachusetts for their behavior in the Boston Tea Party.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    British soldiers marched into Concord ready to seize wrongdoing colonies. When they approached Lexington, the fighting started because they were surprised to see an untrained militia fire at them and kill many of their soldiers.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    A document made by the Second Continental Congress to say that the thirteen American colonies are going to become their own individual states.
  • The Constitution

    The Constitution
    It came after the colonies declared their independence from Britain. It was/is a list of the things the nation wanted to change and holds all of the supreme laws.
