  • Sugar Act

    Merchants had to pay taxes per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses. The colonist were very angry with this act due to the economy consequences. The British were later forced to impose this act due to many angry letters written towards the parliament about this act.
  • Currency Act

    It was a law passed by Parliament to control the use of colonial paper. Instead the colonist had to pay British merchants with gold or silver coins. Making it illegal for colonist to produce paper money. Colonist were very upset at this act and were 100% against it.
  • Stamp Act

    Required all American colonist to pay tax on every paper that they had used or sold. The colonist were once again very upset with this act passed due to this act only benefiting British people and not them. They boycotted and some disagreed to import from Britain until this act was taken back.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This act provided much help for British soldiers, but only failure for colonists. This act said that any British solider should be housed and taken care of by the colonists. The colonist hated this act as some soldiers took advantage and tossed out the colonists. The British didn't mind at all they had houses, food, anything they wanted.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    This was a street fight between a mob of patriots and a group of redcoats. The patriots were mad at the redcoats, the tension between the two were already very high and the once the British government tried to take control of the colonies while increasing taxes threw the colonist over the edge. Once the "massacre" was over the colonist were even more upset due to 5 patriots being killed. The British were just protecting themselves once the colonist attacked.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    It was an act that was passed by British parliament and gave the right to Britain to tax the tea that was exported to the colonist. This later lead to the Boston Tea Party. The colonist were furious at this act.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    This was a political protest and a form of boycotting towards the British. The colonist were tired of being run over and taxed excessively for no reason. The colonist then reacted and they dressed as Indians for disguise and attacked 3 British ships full of tea. They then threw them over board. The colonist at this point were very happy at the protest.The British on the other hand were very angry and forced to shut down Boston Harbor until all the tea chests were paid for.
  • Quebec Act

    This was an act passed by British parliament that gave the Canadians freedom and restored civil law. This increased American resentment towards Britain.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    This was an act passed by British parliament as a punishment for those who lived in Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party. This act closed Boston Harbor and demanded all colonist pay a certain amount to refund all the money lost durning the Boston Tea Party. The colonist were upset and lost a lot of money due to this act.
  • Edenton Tea Party

    Edenton Tea Party
    This was a party was a political protest in Edenton about the former tea act in 1773. There motto was, "no taxation without representation." This group of woman boycotted a lot of major British products such as, tea, clothes, etc. The British were very upset with this and due to this party the British Parliament passed the intolerable acts.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    This was a meeting of delegates from each of the 13 colonies. They discussed and debated on hoe to conserve colonial resistance. The colonies were hoping this would help them to make the British take back the Intolerable acts.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    2nd Continental Congress
    It was a convention of delegates, it was formed from some of the same ones from the first Continental Congress. They did another one to help the money from wars etc. This congress made a move closer to the independence of America.
  • Shot Heard Around The World

    This happened durning a battle in Lexington. It was the first shot heard or fired from the revolutionary war. This made both colonist and British go into war. They both felt the need to win at this point.
  • Common Sense

    A phablet written by Thomas Paine telling how he agreed with the patriots. He was speaking and writing for the people in those 13 colonies that want independence from Britain. The patriots were very happy with this because it was a step closer to freedom. Meanwhile the British were not too happy.
  • Declaratory Act

    This act was passed by British Parliament to say that the authority was the same here as in Britain. The colonists were very happy about this because it repealed some of the past acts. That was a victory for colonists.
  • Townsend Act

    Townsend Act
    In this act was passed by British people.It imposed duties in glass, led, paper, tea etc. into the colonies, it added taxes on those items again. This made the colonist very angry once again.
  • Declaration of Independence

    This was the Americans breaking point from Great Britain. At this point the British were getting concerned at the Americans want for independence, but they earned it from all the fights to finally be free.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Articles of Confederation
    This was an article or a set of functions by which the United States were going to go by once declaring war on Britain for freedom. The British didn't put much mind in this and continued doing what they were doing towards the colonist.
  • Ride of Paul Revere

    Ride of Paul Revere
    In this event a man named Paul Revere, a patriot, he knew the red coats British soldiers were coming for attack so he rode a midnight ride to warn the people in all middlesex villages and farms. The colonist were grateful for the warning and the British were upset because he blew there cover
