Navigation Acts
The Navigation Acts were laws passed by England to maintain control over colonial trade. The acts made colonist buy English goods and limited trade between the colonies and other contries. -
Treaty of Paris of 1763
The Treaty of Paris of 1763 is the document that ended the war between the British and the French over the Ohio River Valley. the treaty ended French Power in North America and expanded British Territory and increased debt. -
Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation Act enabled the Proclamation Line which meant that colonist could not live on the Eastern Coast of North America. This made the settlers very angry because that was the whole point of them fighting a war. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was an act that taxed molasses, sugar, wine, coffee etc. This act also made the colonist angry so instead of paying the taxes they smuggled. This made the British lower the tax to 3 pences. -
Writs of Assistance
Writs of Assistance were search warrants that did not have to be approved by a judge. The colonist were oposed to this because they thought it was going against their rights as human beings. Writs of Assistance made it harder for them to smuggle but they still found way to smuggle. -
Quartering Act of 1765
This act was to make sure that the colonists were doing what they were told. If a soldier knocked on your door and wanted to live in your house you could not refuse. This made the colonist completely angry that when they wrote the Bill of Rights they put in that Quartering has to stop. -
The Stamp Act of 1765
The Stamp Act was an act that taxed all paper product. The Colonist thought this wasn't fair because paper is something they need in their everyday lives. That was their only way to communicate long distances. -
Stamp Act Congress
The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting with the voted colonial representatives to go against the Stamp Act. This helped the protest start and get the taxes repealed. -
Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act was right after they repealed the Stamp Act, but it was just the king saying that he was still in charge. The colonies really didn't react but they still had to fight over who controlled the colonies. -
Townshend Act of 1767
Charles Townshend thought that if he added the tax to the product before they even get to the colonies it would make the colonies t[less mad because he thought they might not notice it. However, he was wrong because the prices went up even more because the merchants had to raise their prices so they could make a profit off of what they sold. The colonist were also angry because the British were taxing more items than usual because they thought they could do their little scam undetected -
The Boston Massacre
A British soldier was approached by a mob and he asked for backup when they got there the mon was yelling and throwing things. At some point a soldier open fired and killed 4 people instantly one person died later on. The Sons of Liberty used this as propaganda. -
First Continental Congress
The Committees of Correspondence voted on a lot of important topics like an independent government and they also built the Militia and started the term ¨minutemen¨. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
AKA The shot heard round the world. No one knows who shot first but once everyone heard a shot they fired -
Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch represents peace. The Olive Branch Petition was a request to restore the harmony between the colonist and England. This is because after "The Battle of Lexington and Concord som patriots still considered themselves as subjects of the King. The king instead of agreeing the King rejected the petition like he had been doing with all of the other petitions. Since he rejected the colonist went back to rebelling. -

AKA the Shot Heard Around the World. No one knows who fired first but once they did everyone else fired. Most of the British thought that the colonist fired first and most of the colonists thought that the British fired first. -
Second Continental Congress
This time they agreed to make an army, authorize the printing of money to pay of soldiers declare George Washington the general. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
