The Boston Tea Party
The British Parliament passed the Tea Act which allowed the British East India Tea company to sell tea to the colonies tax free. The Tea Act also imposed a tax on all other tea imported to the colonies. The colonist hated this act and dumped 18k pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor -
The Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were a retaliation against the Colonists by King George III for the Boston Tea Party. They imposed a tax on imports and shut down the Boston Harbor. They also placed Boston under martial law. -
The First Continental Congress
The Continental Congress was a group of 56 Delegates that met in Philadelphia. The voted on the Declaration of Colonial rights which allowed many rights including the right to fight back against British forces if they used force. Led to creation of the Continental Army and the start of the American Revolution
