Mercantilism Theory
An economy for building a wealthy and powerful state and in search for silver and gold is mercantilism. Adam smith made the term Mercantilism system. This system was said to be for restraining imports and encouraging exports. Mercantilism system in the 16th and 18th centuries mostly dominated in the Western European. As said to be in the Library of Economics and Liberty website. -
Salutary Neglect
Salutary Neglect allowed the thirteen colonies to violate and abuses the laws that associated with trade. Britain did not enforces the rules because it was expensive to sent troops to America. In relation to not enforcing the laws, salutary neglect was not documented. The policy lasted from 1690 to 1760. Britain began to raise taxes after reversing the policy of Salutary Neglect to help pay for the debt from the French and Indian War. That soon lead to the Boston Tea Party. -
French and Indian Wa
French and Indian War really actually lasted for 9 years. The american colonist called it the seven year war while the french called it the colonie war. The Indians actually fought on both sides. It all started when french started to expand into the Ohio Valley river. -
Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation was issued by britain at the end of the French and Indian War. The colonies could not expand westward. This stopped attacks to the native americans by settlers. It began an economy bost where people would buy and trade land with the native americans. -
The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act all started when taxes colonies for the war was a violation of the Bill Of Rights. The Quartering Act was for the colonies to house the british soldiers. Not only were the colonies supposed to supply a home, they also had to supply bedding, food to eat, cooking supplies, drinks and liquor, Firewood, and candles. -
The Stamp Act of 1765
The Stamp Act of 1765 was proposed for all the American colonies to pay taxes on every single printed paper item they used. All the money that was collected on these taxes were supposedly to help pay for the frontier to defend the american colonist. -
The Stamp Act Congress of 1765
The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting held between the american colonies. In New York On october 7 through the 25 they all got together to discuss unified protest against new British taxation. Nine of the thirteen colonies had to agree. -
The Declaratory Act of 1766
The Declaratory act of 1766 was passed by the British Parliament to repeal the Stamp Act of 1765. This Act stated that it was ok for britain to tax the colonies because it was the same in the American and Great Britain Parliament. -
The Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts imposed duties on imported items into the colonies such as glass, lead, paints, paper and tea. The townshend wanted the act to defray the price amount into the colonies. Everything but tea Parliament repealed all the Townshend duties. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a street fight between british soldiers and patriot mob. It first started when the patriots mob started throwing stones, snowballs, and sticks. The Boston Massacre was a single event that help lead to the Revolutionary War. -
The Tea Act of 1773
The Tea Act was passed by Parliament on May 10, 1773. This was the final straw that lead to the Revolutionary war. It was all to reduce the large amount of tea held on the ships coming from the British East India Company. -
The Boston Tea Party of 1773
The Boston Tea Party of 1773 was to protest against taxation. they threw 342 chests of tea overboard. Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty were the people in charge of this. They snuck on the ships on December 16 night. -
The Coercive/Intolerable Acts
The Coercive/Intolerable Acts was passed by the british parliament to punish the massachusetts colony for the dumbing of the tea into the harbor. These laws took away self-government and historic rights to the massachusetts colony. -

First Continental Congress was a meeting for the twelve colonies in relation to the Coercive Act. They met on the consider options to boycott the british trade. They called a second continental congress which at that time finalized the failure of the british. -

The Second Continental Congress was a meeting between The thirteen colonies. They met between September 5, 1774 and October 26, 1774 To dicuss colonial war effort, and moved incrementally towards independenc. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
Battles of Lexington and Concord fought on April 19, 1775 this was the start to the Revolutionary war. Britain marched through boston to Concord in order to seize. Paul Revere sounded the alarm and notified that “the british are coming” they began to fight on the land that is now called lexington. -
The Declaration of Independence (1776)
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The colonies were now free of england.
