Sugar Act
Britain passes a new version of the Sugar Act of 1733. Tax goes down in price and is 3 cents per gallon. The act is strictly enforced and also includes taxing of more foreign goods. -
Stamp Act
To get more money Britain begins to tax paper products on the colonies. Items included are any paper used to write on or print newspapers or books. -
Boston Tea Party
Britain lowers tax prices on tea and allows colonies to sell the tea for more money, causing Britain to get more tax money in return. To rebel townspeople came on the cargo ship and dumped 342 chests of tea into the water. -
Continental Congress
First meeting of the Continental Congress - this meeting was attended by every colony BUT Georgia. During a month of meetings delegates decided resist Great Britain. If things didn't change the group agreed they would meet again. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
This is the first battle of the Revolutionary War taking place first in Lexington and then moving to Concord. Many people call this "the shot heard around the world." -

Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation is the United States first government. This document was adopted March 1781. Later we would write the Constitution. -
Treaty of Paris is Signed
Signing this document ends the Revolutionary War. Representatives from both Britain and the United States sign the Treaty of Paris. -
