15th amendment
United States Constitution prohibits the federal government and each state from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's "race, color, or previous condition of servitude". It was ratified on February 3, 1870, as the third and last of the Reconstruction Amendments. Due to this amendment, African Americans could vote and it shapes the American dream as equality that regardless of the race, everyone can be all equal in America. -
The Standard Oil
It was established on April 11th,1870 by John Rockefeller and his corporations. After it was established, it started to take over refineries and pipelines and eventually controls 90 percent of refineries and pipelines in the U.S. It made more people think that they can earn so much money that they cannot spend through business in America for the first time which caused American dream to evolve. -
Statue of Liberty
It is a copper statue at New York City, which was a gift from France and symbolized American open arms toward immigrants. It displays that people immigrate to America with the American dream and affects American dream that people can succeed in America since they are open to everyone. -
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
It was the deadliest industrial disaster in the history of New York City, and one of the deadliest in U.S. history. The fire caused the deaths of 146 garment workers and it led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards and helped unions, which fought for better working conditions for sweatshop workers. Since this event improved factory safety standard, it helped the American dream to evolve that the Government cares about working class people. -
World War I
A global war originating in Europe that lasted for four years. It is one of the largest war in history. Also, It is one of the deadliest conflicts in history with an estimated nine million combatants and seven million civilian deaths as a direct result of the war. After World war 1, the economy of the world starts to fall and it causes more immigrants entering America to seek for their American dream. -
19th amendment
It is the constitution granted American women the right to vote, a right known as women’s suffrage, ending almost a century of protest. It was passed by Congress on June 4th, 1919, but ratified on Agust 18th, 1920. It shapes a big part of the American dream since it shows people that everyone in America has equal opportunity, so they can do whatever they want to regardless of their identities. -
The Great Depression
A severe worldwide economic depression that took place mostly during the 1930s, beginning in the United States. It became obvious since October 29th, 1929 which is also known as black Tuesday. It was definitely a disaster since so many people lost their jobs and suffered from hunger, but people also learn from it so much too. Therefore, it helped the American dream to be mature like setting more regulation so they don't make the same mistake and reduce the damage unlike the Great Depression. -
World War II
It was a global war that the vast majority of the world's countries fought for. It was the deadliest conflict in human history, marked by 50 to 85 million fatalities, most of whom were civilians in the Soviet Union and China. At this time, unlike other countries, the economy of America boomed since they produced and exported most of the war supplies. Consequently, this kind of advantage made people come to America and have an American dream.
