The Boston Massacre was when British troops murdered 5 colonists. this is important because it would start the Revolutionary War between America and Britain. I chose this event because it angered the colonists and that it would later that the Revolutionary War. -

The colonists protested against the British by dumping tea into the river. this event is important because it was one of the first and biggest protests against the British. I chose this event because it was the first try of the colonists to rebel with violence against their government. -

The Continental Congress met for the first time, this is important because this would later lead to the declaration of America and the ideas of the government we have today. I chose this event because it led to the creation of the Declaration of independence. -
The Declaration of Independence
Independence is declared after The Declaration of Independence is signed. this is important because it is the beginning of the U.S.A and our separation from the British. I chose this event because it states that the U.S.A is its own independent country. -

The U.S. gained more territory for the first time after the U.S. declared independence from Britain. this event is important because 8 new states were implemented in the country. I chose this event because it starts the expansion of America. -

The Treaty of Paris was signed. The reason for this treaty was for the U.S. To gain independence from Britain and become its own country and also to have its own self-government. The importance of this is the treaty ended the American revolution. I chose this event because it was very important to the U.S colonist in 1783. -
Shay's Rebellion
Former soldier William Shay led a rebellion of 1,100 soldiers to protest against the government. This is important because it showed the central government that it was very weak at the time. I chose this event because it led to the creation of a new constitution. -

The first President of the United States, George Washington, was elected. the importance of this was that this would set up a leader figure that would last for generations in the U.S. I chose this event because he was the first president under the U.S Constitution. -

the U.S. made the Louisiana Purchase. This is important because it doubled the size of the United States. I chose this event because it helped the U.S. expand across the continent. -
Birth of Abraham Lincoln
Abe Lincoln was born. This is important because he will go on to become one of the most influential presidents ever. I chose this event because he carried America through their Civil War, and while doing so he preserved the Union, modernized the economy, gave strength to the federal government, and issued the Emancipation Proclamation. -

The British came back to reclaim the Northern territory but lost the war. This event is important because it showed that America could beat the British twice and that the U.S isn't going anywhere. I chose this event because the war demonstrated to the American public the vital importance of an effective naval force for national defense. -
Burning of White House
The British burn down the White House. it is important because the Burning of Washington marks the only time since the American Revolutionary War that a foreign power has captured and occupied the United States capital. -
Writing of the National Anthem
During the defense of Fort McHenry, the national anthem, Star-Spangled Banner, was written by Francis Scott Key. This event was important because it showed how we won the battle and we gained a national anthem. I chose this event because it is still our national anthem today. -
Civil War Begins
A civil war breaks out between the northern states, the Union, and the southern states, the Confederacy. The important thing about this event is that it ended slavery and strengthened of the federal government. I chose this event because it is the first time that America fought against each other, it led to the abolishment of slavery and the strengthening of the central government. -
Emancipation Proclamation
Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This is important because it freed slaves in America. Yet, it declared free only those slaves living in states not under Union control. I chose this event because it led to the 13th Amendment. -
End of the Civil War
The end of the Civil War ended when Confederate General Smith surrendered. This is important because this would end slavery in all of the U.S. and the U.S. will come back together as the United States of America. I chose this event because it marked the beginning of the end of the grinding four-year-long American Civil War that split the nation. -
Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
John Wilkes Booth assassinates President Lincoln at Fords Theater. This is important because it's the first time a president has been killed. I chose this event because the assassination dramatically changed the Reconstruction era. -
Invention of the telephone
The invention of the telephone was first introduced. This is important because it was one of the first inventions in a whole span of inventions to come. I chose this event because this invention changed the world and it's still used widely today. -
The End of Reconstruction Era
The end of the era known as the Reconstruction is caused by President Hayes removing federal troops from the south. This is important because Northerners felt was time for the South to solve their own problems by themselves. I chose this event because, Reconstruction remains relevant today because the issues central to it - the role of the federal government in protecting citizens' rights, and the possibility of economic and racial justice - are still unresolved.
