The continental congress, after 16 months of debate, agreed to adopt the Articles of Confederation not until March 1st, 1781 when all of the thirteen colonies ratified the agreement. -
The British Surrender at Yorktown
British General Charles Cornwallis surrendered his 8,000 troops at Yorktown, Virginia. The British expected help from ships sent from New York but the ships never arrived. The conlonies found their opportunity to defeat the world's biggest empire. -

The Constitutional Convention was a convention that took place in Philidelphia to adress problems with governing in the U.S to make a new constitution. The convention was originally intended to revise the Articles of Confederation but they just scrapped it and made a new government. -
The Ratification of the Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments of the U.S Constitution, was ratified by three-fourths of state legislatures.
