The Election of 1860 was a very important election of this time period. The candidates were Abraham Lincoln, John Bell, Stephen A. Douglas, and John C. Breckinridge. Lincoln won this election and this caused a lotof tension because southern states didn't want him to be elected because they were afraid he would take away slavery. -

A document issued by President Lincoln to end slavery. -
Death of "Stonewall" Jackson
"Stonewall" Jackson was shot by his own men in war and died days later from complications of having pneumonia. -
Battle of GettysBurg
From July 1st to July 3rd, the bloodiest battle in the entire war occured. There was the most casualities in the war with over 50,000 people killed. -
Lincoln's assassination
President Lincoln was shot at point blank range in the head at the Fords Theatre by John Wilkes Boothe.
