The Election of 1860 was a very important election of this time period. The candidates were Abraham Lincoln, John Bell, Stephen A. Douglas, and John C. Breckinridge. Lincoln won this election and this caused a lotof tension because southern states didn't want him to be elected because they were afraid he would take away slavery.
