Quatering act
In 1765 The british passed the quatering act which required all colonist to supply the british troops with a place to stay, carriages, and any other necessities that they needed. -
The stamp act
An act that put taxes on stamps to help pay off britians war debts. -
The townshend revenue act
The parliment passed the townshend act which pushed the colonist over edge. This was a tax on paint, glass, oil, paper, and tea. The goal of the parliment was to raise an extra 40,000 pounds a year. People were furious and they started mobs against the british and were on the edge of a revolution. -
Boston non-importation agreement
A group of merchants got together and agreeed to boycott some of the things that were being taxed by the townshend act. They planned to boycott it until the taxes were repealed. They still bought necisities and eventually all the shops in boston joined. Eventually most major cities and most collonies joined the boycott. -
The Boston Massacre
It started as a street fight where colonist were throwing stuff at a group of british soliders. This caused a riot against the british troops, and about 50 citizens attacted them. The british called in more troops who were also attacked and then they opened fire on the unarmed colonist and killed three imidiatly. They also wounded 8 other people. This made the colonist want imidiate removal of the british and the killers to be punished. -
1773- Tea act
Colonist were offered cheap tea and this ment they were paying the taxes that they didnt want to. This is also an example of the british showing mercantalisim. This sparked the boston tea party where they threw the tea into the river in protest. This started the intollerence act, which reduced the colonist rights and they blockaded the boston harbor -
The boston tea party
A group of colonist snuck into the boston harbor at night and threw 342 cases full of tea into the boston harbour. When the snuck on to the three ships and raided it they were disquised as native americans. This shows salutary neglect because the british were unable to stop the protesters from throwing all the tea in the water. -
The battle of lexington and concord
"The shot heard around the world" This was the first shot fired that started the war. This is when Paul Revere took his famous ride and when the british were going to attack they raised the lantern into the tower. The horse riders went around and told the country side they were coming. -

Common sense
Thomas pain wrote "common sense" to ask for freedom from the british, and he was the first one to directly ask to be free. -

A document declaring our independence from britian and is a symbol of our liberty.
