    School Application Deadline
    We will be accepting a maximum of 7 schools into the network for 2016. We will work with a maximum of 3 schools from the Hout Bay/Camps Bay area and with 4 schools from the Southern Suburbs. Schools wishing to be involved need to complete this application form while reading these application guidance notes. The form will help us identify which 7 schools are best prepared for running the program in 2016.

    A member of our team will likely be available to come out and pitch the project to the students during assembly.

    Participating schools only. Students interested in the program will have to submit the student application form.
  • Class Sessions Commence

    Class Sessions Commence
    We will provide thorough lesson plans (and slides) for the first 2 weeks of the program. These sessions will involve only the students and the “teacher champion”. Week 1:
    - The rapidly changing world
    - Opportunities are everywhere
    - Meaningful problems. Week 2:
    - What about your future?
    - Growth mind-set & Deliberate practice
    - 1 year from now…
  • Project Mentors Join In (Week 3)

    Project Mentors Join In (Week 3)
    Students will pitch their “1 year vision” and will then be assigned mentors. Students and mentors come to an agreement around expectations and co-create their working structure for the remaining 7 week of this year’s program.
    We will provide support and recommendations for this process.
  • First District Gathering

    First District Gathering
    1 interesting idea/project from each school is presented to the district (max 10 minutes per talk). Each school chooses which of their projects to highlight at the gathering. “Speed dating” type session where student teams pair up and take turns sharing their ideas and receiving some feedback. Teacher champions and project mentors share some of their ideas. How have things gone? What has worked? What hasn’t worked? Coolest projects? …
  • Final Project Showcase

    Final Project Showcase
    Each student/team will be allocated a space within which to set up a display outlining their project. Parents, friends and supporter can then stop by, ask questions and provide valuable feedback and perhaps even offers of support. We’ll also have an inspirational guest speaker address.
  • TEDx Youth Cape Town

    TEDx Youth Cape Town
    The TEDx Youth team will be scouring the province for scholars doing interesting work or those with powerful ideas to share. Hopefully some of our youngsters will be able to make the cut!
