Abraham Lincoln is elected the 16th president of the U.S.A. This is important because he is the president and because he will be the president during the Civil War. (Not the whole thing) -
South Carolina Secedes
After the election of Lincoln, a man who was againist slavery, South Carolina felt like they had no say and seceeded from the U.S.A. After South Carolina did this, many other Southern states did too, In Jan. 1861. This is important because it is the beginning spark of the Civil War. -
Southen States Secede
The following states, only one month after South Carolina, seceded: Mississippi (9th), Flordia (10), Alabama (11), Georgia (19), and Louisiana (26). also, in Feb., Texas seceded. All of these states also felt the election was unfair and joined South Carolina. This is important because these main states were the Confederates. -
South Creates Government
In March, the Confederates created their own government. Along with this, they created the Conferderates Consitution.From then, they began to make plans on attacking Fort Sumter, which will create the Civil War. This is very important because this "creating own government" was what began the building toward the Civil war. -

In this day, the Civil War began in the U.S.A. This happened when the Southern States attacked Fort Sumter, which sparked a war that lasted 4 years. This is very important since the Civil War is the time period in which Old Yeller takes place and because it was one of the most heated wars in America during that time. -

One of the most known battles of the Civil War, The Battle of Shiloh took place in SW Tennessee. The Union won this battle. This is important because it is a known battle in the Civil War for its fierceness. -
Battle of Gettysburg
This was the largest battle of the Civil War. When the Confedrates saw a Union calvary, they attacked, yet this battle was taken by the Union. This battle lasted three bloody days. This is important because it was the largest battle. -
Battle of Chickamauga
The second largest battle in the Civil War, The Battle of Chickamauga occured at Chattanooga, Tenneesee. This was a Confederate victory when the Union retreated. This is important because it was the 2nd largest battle in the Civil War. -
President Lincoln Re Elected
President Abrham Lincoln is re-elected with his Vice President, Andrew Johnson. This is important because it may have created more anger during the Civil war. -
Lincoln Is Killed
Assinated by John Wilkes Booth, who happened to be a Confederate. Vice President Andrew Johnson took his place.This is important because it was the first assassination of a U.S presdient in history. He was shot on Apr. 14 but pronounced dead on Apr. 15.
