The Land Ordinance of 1785 set up a way to settle the northwest territory. -
Shay's Rebellion

Great Compromise
The Great Compromise settled the diffferences between the states and set up a form of government. -
Three Fifths Compromise
This compromise allowed the slave states to count three fifths of the slaves living there. -
Constitution is ready

Northwest Ordinance
The Northwest Ordinance set up a government for the northwest territory and guarenteed the basic rights for the settlers who lived there. -
Delaware ratifies
Delaware was the first state to ratify the constitution. -
Bill of Rights added
Congress added a Bill of Rights to help make the other states ratify the Constitution. -
Rhode Island ratifies
Rhode Island is the last state to ratify the Constitution.
