The pigeon
The Pigeon was the first robot, and was made by the Greek philosopher, astronomer, mathematician, and statesman Archytas. This wooden mechanical bird, dubbed "The pigeon", was propelled by steam, and could fly for up to 200 meters. "The Pigeon" might not only be the first robot ever created, but also one of the first flying constraptions.

A robotic knight
Leonardo Da Vinci made the first human-like robot ever in history. He created a robotic knight which, according to his sketches, would stand, sit, lift his visor, and move its arms. Leonardo created his robot to prove to himself that, a human beings´ body could be imitated.

The Duck
The French inventor Jacques de Vaucanson has created several autonomous robots in his time, but "The Duck" was one of his more revered inventions. This mechanical duck had over 400 different parts and had many functions. It could flap its wings, and it could eat, digest and defecate. Also today we see modern-day robots with similar abilities.

Tesla´s Remote-Controlled Boat
When Nikola Tesla was going to demonstrate his wireless transmission system (radio waves), he placed an iron boat in the water at Madison Square Garden during a conference, an controlled it with a remote. Nobody at the time realized how significant this remote-controlled boat would be to the future, and the impanct it would be to the future robotics, toys, radio, and other devices we have today.

The Unimate arm
"The Unimate arms" was a result of the researches in the developing of robotic arms, in the 1960s. The robot was one of the first industrial robots and was invented to reduce injuries and deaths on the production floor. The Unimate is known as the grandfather of industrial robots.

Shakey
Shakey was the first free-thinking and truly successful artificial intelligence robot in history. The robot was capable of understanding its actions and demonstrated its ability to think, and then react by navigating itself.

Genghis
Rodney Brooks´s lab at MIT created this six-legged walker, in 1988. It taught itself how to scramble over boards and other obstacles. Each leg reacted to the environment independently and would not need to be programmed for every complex step.

NASA Mars Pathfinder and Sojourner
This Mars pathfinder and sojourner's main purpos was to demonstrate the kind of technology that was required to send an efficient, free-ranging robot to Mars, in a relatively cost-effective way. The Pathfinder managed to enter Mars's atmosphere with a parachute and airbags for protection, and the Sojourner sent plenty of useful data about the Red Planet back to Earth for later use.
The pathfinder was sent 3 times and the Sojourner 12.

ASIMO
ASIMO is one of the most impressive machines in robotics. It can emulate different human gaits and turns on most surfaces, use its arms, talk and listen, see, and recognize people or objects. ASIMO was a announced back in 1986 as a human like robot, that is capable of not only co-existing with humans but also eventually surpass their abilities for the benefit of society.
