    The Atlantic Slave Trade started when Portugal, and subsequently other European kingdoms, were finally able to expand overseas and reach Africa. The transportation of enslaved African people, were mainly sent to the Americas. The slave trade regularly used the triangular trade route and its Middle Passage, providing British industry with access to raw materials. This contributed to the increased production of manufactured goods.
