    Germany was in a very bad place economically, The Treaty of Versailles put Germany in dept 112 billion marks and the German government was printing so mch money the marks were worthless. People were using there marks for fire fuel and kids used it for building forts, thats how bad the economy was. Hitler used all of these problems to his advantage. He promised the people tha the would fix there problems and make the country better.

    Hitler’s political skills helped him rise quickly through the ranks of his new party. In February he spoke before a crowd of nearly 6,000 in Munich. Hitler also used peoples resentment of the treaty of Versailles to help his popularity and promised vengeance.

    Hitler wanted a revolution. Hitler held Kahr at gunpoint, Kahr was forced to pledge support. The next day, Hitler led 3,000 men onto the streets. But the police were waiting. In the battle, 16 Nazis and 3 policemen died. Hitler was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison for treason.

    Hitler only served nine months of a five year sentence. While inside he wrote the Mein Kampf which oulined his political views. He descibed Jews as "parisites" and how the should be eliminated.

    After his failed his revolution, he looked into getting votes but the Nazi's only had 2.6% of the vote. However Hitler wasn't going to give up.

    Hitler had grown the Nazi party to have over 37% of the vote. The growing communist support persuated President Von Hindenburg to give Hitler the job of Chancellor. However The President was also becoming concerned with Hitlers growing popularity. Any groups associated with the Nazis folded, however Hitler needed support from military leaders to get what was outlined in the Mein Kampf.

    The army supported Hitler and his views, and when president Hindenburg died the army supported his move to Führer and he now had total control.

    Hitler deffinitly ran a totalitarian society. Hitler had total control of the newspapers, which he filled with propaganda for his own gain. Hitler censored the media heavily and therefor removing the peoples freedom of speech. This allowed HItler to influence the media and control what the people saw and believed. Also Hitler's secret police were supposed to find traitor and he had them tortured and beatin, so everyone thought twice before doing anything bad.
