Edict of Nantes create
This was made by Henry IV which granted the Calvinist Protestants of France substantial rights in a nation that was still concidered, Catholic. -
Henry IV becomes king
He was in line to become king after the last death of Henry II's songs had all died. He then took the reign and the people had a tough time accepting him so he switched his Protestant ways and turned into a Catholic. -
James I becomes king
The first of the stuart kings. He was deeply into literiture and arts, He rewrote the famous version of the bible in 1611 that is still famous to the English to this very day. -
Defenestration at Prague
Four Catholic regents were accused of banning churches from being built on the royal lands. Soon after two of the four regents were thrown out the window and one survived after falling into a heap of dung. -
30 Years War Begins
The thirty years war were a series of war who are believed to have began over religious wars that have been going on in between Protestants and Catholics. This war had almost all the great powers of Europe fighting. -
Treaty of Westphalia
This was the Treaty that had finished the 30 years war. It began on the 15th of May and was signed October 24th. -
Carnidal Rhichelieu Strenghtens Monarchy
Cardinal Rhichelieu supported the centralization of power in France and strenghtening the monarchy by removing outlying rulers. -
Charles I becomes King
During his reign much religious problems had occured. His failure to succesfully aid Protestants during the 30 years war left problems witht he fact that he married a Catholic princess. -
Charles signs Petition of Right
This sets out specific liberties of the subject that the king is prohibited from infringing. The Petition contains contains restrictions on non-Parliamentary taxation, forced billeting of soldiers, inprisonment without cause, and restricts the use of martial laws. -
Creation of Versailles
The earliest mention of Versailles was way back in 1038 but wasn't created until Louis XIV created Versailles in 1632 unsing his dads old hunting lodge area. -
Long Parliament
This was established to pass financial bills, following the Bishop Wars. The Long Parliament could not be dissolved unless members of the Parliament agreed for it to not be used. -
English Civil War
The English Civil wars were fought because of political conflicts between Parliamentaries and Royalists. The war was broken down to three different series of wars. First English Civil War (1642-1646), Second English Civil War (1648-1649), Third English Civil War (1649-1651). -
Loius XIV becomes king
Loius began to reign in 1643. He was known for being one of Frances best kings and ruled for 72 years. The most of any kings who yet ruled France. He was known for creating Versailles. -
Oliver Cromwell creates New Model Army
The New Model Army was created by Parliament as it felt that a professional army would be more successful against the kind's army. The New Model Army was different in the sense that it wasn't based on the persons role in society rather than skills. -
30 Years War Ends
After 30 years of war. It finally ended. Which lead to the outcome of the Netherlands gaining independance from Spain, Sweden gaining control of the Baltic Sea and France was acknowledged as the preeminent Western power. The power of the holy Roman Emperor was broken and the German states were again able to determine to religion of their lands. -
Charles I executed
Charles was found tried by 135 judges. Only around 68 of those judges went. He was then found guilty for being a murder , tyrant, and a traiter. He was the first king in English history to be executed by his own people. -
English Civil Wars Ends
Shortly after Charles I was beheaded, the third and final English Civil War began and ended in 1651. The Parliament won and the commonwealth was soon after created. -
Creation of the Commonwealth
This was created at the end of the English Civil War by Cromwell. He created it and set up a bunch of rules of what was okay to do and not okay. Many of the fun things to do were concidered to be going against the time of being faithful to God. The people weren't happy and the commonwealth didn't stay for long. -
Restoration of the Stuarts
The Stuarts were restored when Charles II came into power after his father. He was loved by the people and and he was described being greater than any description. This is where the stuarts were restored. -
The Glorious Revolution
As James II came into power he created the Roman Catholic religion which the people of the nation did not like. They rose up in revolt. The people won and a Constitutional Monarchy was created in England. This was called the Glorious War due to the fact that no casualty occured. -
Peter I becomes Tsar
Peter began his reign in 1682 and led the Russuians trough many wars. He also founded the first Russian naval base, -
Revocation of Edict of Nantes
Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes and orded to destroy all Huguenots churches, and also closed Protestant schools. -
Singing of the English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights lists down limits on the powers of sovereign and sets out the rights of Parliament And rules for freedom of speech in the Parliament, the requirement to regular elections to Parliament and the right to petition the monarch without fear of retribution. -
Peter the Great travels to Europe
Peter took a 18 month journey with the so called Ruissian delegation to create an aid of the European monarchs. -
Creation of St. Petersburg
The delta of Neva river had been geographically and politically important for over a thousand years. After Peter recaptured parts of this area due to the Northern Wars with Sweden. He then proposed that a fortress would be built after his name. -
Death of Louis XIV
After a long 72 years of reign, Louis XIV finally dies whiles in Versailles. He died 4 days before his birthday party. He suffered much pain his last days of life. -
Peter the Great dies
In the winter of 1723 Peter, who never really had good health began to have urinary problems. He went to doctors who took out over four pounds of trapped urine. Peter feeling better went on with his life. Until 1725 where his uremia problems hit him once again. He passed away by an infected bladder.
