My sister cam over and she played peek-a-boo with me but she was doing the one where you just hide you face. I figured out that she was still there even though I couldn't see her face. This was Piaget's first stage: sensorimotor when object permanence which is when you know a object still exists even if you can't see it.

At age 3 I watched my dad back the car into a light post in our yard. My mom got mad at him and she was yelling at him. This caused me to think of how doing bad things cause punishments and made me want to avoid punishments more than I was thinking about if it was wrong or not. This shows the first stage of Kohlberg's Stages: Pre-conventional morality which is thinking about punishments and rewards more than about if its wrong or not.

When I was 4 there were many different things that I wanted to do and my parents let me do them to some extent and I started to get a sense of freedom. This is Erikson's third stage of development Initiative vs. Guilt which is when the child can make choices by themselves and initiate activities by themselves or if they are not able to do that then they develop a sense of guilt.

When I was 6 my parents put me into a extra class in kindergarten. In that class I was learning topics that weren't going to be taught until 1st grade. This helped me get a better grasp in the preoperational stage of Piaget while also allowing me to move towards the concrete operational stage. The preoperational is when you get better at using words and when you can start thinking but you aren't able to have complex or abstract thoughts.

In first grade the clip up and clip down system was introduced to me. If you did something wrong you got clipped down but if you do the right thing then you get clipped up. This again, Just like when I was 3, made me want to do the right thing that way I wouldn't get in trouble. This represents Kohlberg's pre-conventional stage where you are more worried about punishment or rewards more than the right or wrong thing to do.
  • 8 Years Old

    8 Years Old
At 8 my parents started to give me chores causing me to have work to do and causing me to be depended on for some things like taking the trash out. This is Industry vs. Inferiority of Erikson's stages where you feel inferior if you don't feel like you did good enough or industry where you feel good after getting praised or rewarded for your work.

In 5th grade I was put into a advanced math group in my math class. The whole class was learning how to use letters in math but the group I was in had more equations with these. This was a abstract way of thinking. This is the Formal Operational stage of Piaget's where you start to have abstract thoughts.

In 7th grade we got to go to Kings Island if we did our math homework and we turned it in in time. I really wanted to go to Kings Island so I made sure all of my work was done on time. I was thinking about the reward of Kings Island and not about the fact that doing my work was the right thing. This is Kohlberg's pre-conventional stage since I was only thinking about the reward.
  • 15 Years Old

    15 Years Old
I got my permit at 15 and because of that my parents started to give me more independence and they let me start to choose more stuff by myself. This helped me decide what I wanted to do with my life and what I wanted to study in the future. This was Erikson's stage of Identity vs. Role confusion since I was figuring out what I wanted to do with my life.
  • 17 Years Old

    17 Years Old
I had the choice between going to class or staying home. I chose to stay home since my brother was home sick. This was bad for my attendance but it was the right thing to do since I was at home taking care of my brother. This is the post-conventional part of Kohlberg's stages where you think more of if its the right thing to do without thinking about if society views it as the right thing.

This will be my first yar of college and I want to take a psychology class which will mean that I need to think in abstract ways to use the theories I learn effectively. This leans into Piaget's Formal Operational stage where you have to have abstract thoughts.
  • 19 Years Old

    19 Years Old
When I turn 19 I want to donate some of my savings to charities and I want to volunteer my time at different organizations to leave a positive impact on the community. This would be the Generativity Vs. Stagnation stage of Erikson's theory since I would be giving back to the world and not just letting staying in one place and not doing anything.
