Illinois becomes first state to repeal its sodomy laws
It allows one to perform any sex act that isn’t “natural” which pertains to heterosexuals as well as homosexuals giving people the ability to have intimate relations how they wish without fear of persecution. -
24th Amendment
Prohibits both Congress and the states from conditioning the right to vote in federal elections on payment of a poll tax or other types of tax. -

Stonewall Inn riots
Violent demonstrations by members of the gay community after N.Y.C. police raided a gay bar and the patrons rioted against them in protest, this caused many gay rights activist groups to form such as LGBT, and Gay Pride marches. -
Title IX
No person in the United States shall on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. -
