The Indian Sepoys were given new guns that were greased with pork fat. Pork being something that they can't eat the Indians refused to work with these guns and were sent to jail. They later rebelled and marched to Delhi where they were joined by more Indian rebel soldiers.

After years of being ruled by the British, the Indian people began to feel discontent with their living situations. They were treated as second calss citizens and nationalism was growing. The Indian National Congress was created to give the Indians a say.

Outraged by the mistreatment of him and his fellow indians, Gandhi led his first movement, burning he British passes that categorized them as Indians, as second class citizens. After burning these passes Gandhi was sent to jail.

After being promised that supporting the British in WWI would lead to self-governing, the Indians enlisted for the army and faought for the British Empire. The promise thoug, was ot kept and there were a lot of violent acts in response to the broken promise.

After being asked for help by a vilager, Gandhi travelled the countryside helping the poor. He got arrested for telling the indians about independence.

The British passes the Rowlatt Acts, which sated that indians could be arrested without a trial for up to two years for protesting. Educated Indians declared this a violation of their human rights. This led to even moreprotesting.

In response to the Rowlatt Acts the tens of thousands of Indians gathered to demonstrate their opposition. Discussing their rights and protsting to get them. The British army fired shamelessly at the crowd and killed about 400 people, with more people wounded.

In order to weaken the British government, and in efforts to gain independence, Gandhi launched a civil desobedience campaign. Indians refused to abide to unfair rules and syopped payin taxes. They also stopped buying any goods from the British.

In response to the passing of the Salt Acts the enraged Indians marched all the way to the seacoast and began collecting their own salt by evaporating salt water. In adittion to this they also tried to shut down a British salt factory wich was a disaster. A lot of Indians wre killed and some, including Gandhi, were arrested.

With the prupose of stopping the civil disobedience the British passed an act that stated that indians can only purchase salt from the British, meaning that the Indinas could no longer continue resisting.

After years of civildesobedience the British government finally gave in. They granted the Indian's with local self government and limited democratic elections. Though it allowed the Indians to govern themselves it still did not guarantee full independence.

The British committed the Indian army to fight a long with them against Germany During WWII. I respose to this Gandhi told all the soldiers not to cooperate, and to contine the resistance in peace.
