The Spanish American War
This war between Spain and The United States began in the Phillipines and lasted 113 days, however, the Spanish had been defeated in May. Then, the American fought in Cuba and were victorious. The war officially ended when The Treaty of Paris was signed in December. -
World War 1
On June 28, archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated, which sparked the Great War and led to country after country contributing to the war. President Wilson of the United States gave in to joining the war due to a document named The Zimmerman Telegram. Millions of soldier began fighting in Europe, and ended when Germany surrenderd on November 11 of 1918. -
The Great Depression
The Great Depression began when the Stock Market crashed and was the biggest crash in America History. It caused unemployment rates to rise and business came to a stop. However, The New Deal arose, and began providing jobs, money, and programs to get the country back to where it was. -
World War 2
World War 2 began in Europe when German Leader, Adolf HItler, invaded Polan, however the United States did not join until 1941. Europe gave the U.S economy war supplies that were needed, as the U.S then committed to neutrality. The war ended in 1945. -
The Holocaust
The holocaust was a time from 1941-45 where Jews were being murdered by the German Nazis. TheNazis believed the Jews were being a threat, because of that, Adolf HItler took them to concentration camps and the ghetto all in which was during the time of world war 2. This was devistating to families, children, and many others around the world that could do nothing to help. -
The Cold War
The political and military tension between democracy and communism was the core to the cold war. Communism being that a single person is in power where as democracy is where the government has the power. The Soviet Union and the United States dealt with this conflict throgh tension and war that lasted 45 years! -
The 1950's
The 1950's was a time where people were worried about the spread of communism, also known as the Red Scare. A man by the name McCarthy abegan accusing people of being communist and those people were then considered suspicious. -
The Korean War
Communism was then spread to Korea where it was then split in to North Korea and South Korea. North Korea was in favor of communism and South Korea was not. The United States then stood up for themselves and went to support South Korea. The war came to a standstill and President Eisenhower put it to and end. -
Vietnam War
This conflict was between communists of North Vietnam and its southern allies. The war between Vietnam and France was called the First Indo-China War and was one of the biggest conflicts in United Stated history. By 1968, over 500,000 American troops were fighting in the war.
