  • The Annapolis Convention

    The Annapolis Convention
    The Convention was held in Annapolis, Maryland where 12 delegates from 5 states dicussed the problems with the states' first form of government, the Articles of Confederation, or the A of C. The smaller states thought that the states didn't get enough input or say in anything. Sadly, not enough delegates from the states were there to enforce this point, so, the delegates that were present sent a report to Congress to see if they could change the A of C.

    Philadelphia Convention (The Constitutional Convention)
    The Philadelphia Convention, also known as the Constitutional Convention, was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from May 25 to September 17. The delegates gathered to change the A of C, at least, that was what they were supposed to be doing. But, people like Alexander Hamilton and James Madison wanted to completely change the way the government was.
  • The Virginia Plan

    The Virginia Plan
    The Virginia Plan was invented by Edmund Randolph for the representation of the larger states. It supported a legislative branch with two houses. They were the House of Representatives and the Senate. It also represented Equal Representation.
  • The New Jersey Plan

    The New Jersey Plan
    The New Jersey Plan was invented by William Paterson for the smaller states. In the plan, the legislature would only have one house and it represented proportional representation.
  • Constitution

    Constitution
    The Constitution was the new government for the states. In it, the legislature had two houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate. It also represented both Equal representation and Proportional representation. It also stated the states break-off from england and all of the amendments such as natural rights and freedom of speech.
