    The Declaration of Independence was simply a letter to King George III that attempted to pronounce the states independent of Britain and show American ideals. It was signed on July 4, 1776 by 56 people.

    As soon as it recieved news of the declaration of independence Britain declared war to keep the American colonies under their control. Over 25,000 Americans lost their lives in the struggle, mostly to disease.

    Other then Britain the Articles of Confederation were the first government that the states ever had or used. The Articles main weakness was that the states had far too much power. Shay's rebbelion helped show these weaknesses.

    This was the treaty signed in Paris on this date to end the Revolutionary War. It was approved by Congress on January 19, 1784. This is the treaty that declared the states completely independent from Great Britain.

    This was the convention that was held to solve the problems found in the Articles of Confederation. The convention lasted from the twenty-fifth of May, 1987, to the seventeenth of September, 1787. This convention held the greatest leaders of the day.
    However, the U.S. Constitution was created accidently when they were trying to fix the Articles of Confederation. This is also where the "Great Compromise" occured.

This is the preamble to the Constitution of the United States and it explains the Constitution and America better then anything anyone else could write.
