After several weeks at the inital site on Cape Cod, the Pilgrims searched for a place more suited for long term habitation. On this date, a working party arrived at the Plymouth Plantation site. -

Samoset The pilgrims met the first English speaking Indian, Samoset.He helped them communitcate with the local tribes. -
Thanksgiving
The First Thanksgiving This is the approxomate date of the Thanksgiving. This was a combination of religious service and traditional English harvest festival. Over 100 Pokanoket Indians attended. -
Aptucxet
About this date the settlers of Plymouth built their first trading house at Aptucxet. Io exchange goods with the local natives. -
The Great Migration of 1630
Migration During this year an additional 1,000 settlers came to the Plymouth and Boston areas. -
Smallpox Epidemic
Smallpox Epidemic Smallpox and other diseases killed many of the settlers and the natives. -
