5th Amendment
The Fifth Amendment creates a number of rights relevant to both criminal and civil legal proformaces. In criminal cases, the Fifth Amendment guarantees the right to a grand jury, forbids “double jeopardy,” and protects against self-incrimination. It also requires that “due process of law” be part of any proceeding that denies a citizen “life, liberty or property” and requires the government to compensate citizens when it takes private property for public use. -

Basil O'Conner
Basil O'Connor was an American lawyer. In collaboration with US-President Franklin D. Roosevelt he started two foundations for the rehabilitation of polio patients and the research on polio prevention and treatment. From 1944 to 1949 he was Chairman and President of the American Red Cross and from 1945 to 1950 he was Chairman of the League of Red Cross Societies. -
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Franklin Deleno Rosevelt was born on January 30, 1882. He was elected as the New York State senator in 1910. FDR contracted the Polio virus. Roosevelt was a huge suppoter of minority groups such as, African American, Catholics, and Jews. He was eleceted as President of the United States in the 1932 election. -
Tuskegee infantile paralysis center
The Tuskegee Infantile Paralysis Center, O’Connor claimed, would “provide the most modern treatment for colored infantile paralysis victims” and would “train Negro doctors and surgeons for orthopedic work,”. Designing the center as a site for both health care and professional training was intended to compensate for the many hospitals in Alabama region that refused to treat Black patients. The center opened with a lot of enthusiasm beucause it catered to African Americans. -
Polio Vaccine
The polio vaccine was shown to the world by Dr. Thomas Francis Jr, on 15 April 1955. The vaccine was first tested by Jonas Salk in 1952. The vaccine was created by HeLa cells. Today the polio vaccines have erradicated polio from most countires in the world.
