Christopher Colombus is known for his voyage to America in 1492. The United States celebrates Colombus Day on October 12th. Christopher Colombus was Italian and was known for navigating, colonizing, and exploring, and of course his voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. He was born in 1451 and died May 20th in 1506. -

Bartolome de Las Casas was a priest known for a few things. One is traveling on Christopher Colombus’s third voyage and then for protesting mistreating the Natives. He believed in anit-imperialism and anit-racism. He began traveling to places like Guatemala, Peru, Cuba, Nicarauga, and Mexico. He didn’t believe they should torture Natives and wanted to the the encomienda system. -

The Colombian Exchange was during the time period in 1492 when Christopher Colombus voyaged to America. They began in exchanging many things such as animals, cultures, plants, slaves, ideas. The Europeans brought back corn, potatoes, and tomatoes. They also traded diseases which caused a population loss of anywheres from 50-90% of the population. -

La Noche Triste
On June 30 1520 Cortez along with other his spanish soldiers had taken many golds and goods from Mexico.They tried to escape thrrough the Tlacopan causeway but soon they were sighted and the fighting began. They had fought so much that an estimated 450 spainiards and 4,000 allies died. There were so many dead bodies they no longer needed bridges to walk on the water, they covered up the ground. Others trying to take ships to leave there boats had sunk due to all the gold and goods they stole. -
Haitian Revolution
Toussaint Louverture was known for leading the Haitian Revolution, this was when enslaved blacks wanted independence and within 1791-1803 the slaves had drove out all the whites and got rid of slavery and got native control. Toussaint Louverture was also known for trying to rebuild the Haitian Empire after it collapsed. -
Simon Bolivar
Simon Bolivar plays a very important part in Latin American history. He along with others participated in helping Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Bolivia, and Spain all into gaining independence. After fighting for 16 years Bolivia had finally gained its independence, still with the help of Simon Bolivar and in a sort or recognition and thanks for his time, effort, and honoring Simon Bolivar, they named Bolivia after his giving it the name Bolivia. -
Tikal
Tikal is a home to Myans, housing anywheres from 10,000-90,000 mayans. Tikal is seperated in nine different communtiies but still all connected with bridges, and things. Tikal is built over water on top of a hill in high elevation. They believe that Tikal was conquered in the 4th century due to numerous reasons such as war, famine, diseases, and it is believed that Teotihuacan conquered Tikal.
