In fact, this act did not involve raising taxes on tea. It only stated that the tea of the east india company would be shipped directly to the colonies and sold at bargain prices. the founding fathers thought that it was a good way to rally the colonists. -

The tea act was in fact an indirect attempt to get the colonies to settle on arguments about taxes, which boston easily saw through. the enraged colonists than dressed as indians and raided a british cargo ship, dumping thousands of dollars worth of tea into the harbor. -
