    The assassinaton of the Archduke is believed to be the start of World War I after built up tensions. Within a week of the assassination Russia, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Serbia were war ready against Austria-Hungary and Germany
  • United States Enters World War I

    United States Enters World War I
    After hopes of staying neutral from some Americans, President Wilson believed in would be in the world’s best interests for him to enter the war. After multiple attacks on unarmed shipment boats by the Germans public opinion swayed to entering the war. By the end of the war 2 million Americans served.
  • Tsar Nicholas II and family are executed

    Tsar Nicholas II and family are executed
    The Romanov family is executed by Bolsheviks ending the 300 year old dynasty. In March of 1917 the Russian Revolution led by Vladimir Lenin broke out into the streets of Petrograd. From the ineffectiveness as a ruler by Nicholas him and his entire family were executed.

    The agreement of the stoppage of fighting by both sides is the Armistice. This agreement allowed for the peace treaty to be written up and signaled the end of the War to end all Wars. Even though World War II would happen shortly after.

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was identified by F.D.R. as a, “Day that will forever live in infamy.” The event was the main purpose for the United States entering WWII but wouldn’t fight in the Pacific Theater till the war ends in Europe.

    The invasion on the beach of Normandy, France known as D-Day was one of the first victories by the allies. This started a series of events that led to victory in the European Theater.

    After the first atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima President Truman believed that a second bomb was necessary. After the bombing of Nagasaki Japan eventually surrendered but not without controversy.

    Churchill known as a great speech artist delivered a speech to the graduates of Westminister College. He warned of the building of the Berlin and Russian Communism.

    Russian missiles were found stored in the Communist country of Cuba. With them being stored so close to the United States problems insued but luckily avoided war.

    The Vietnam was one of a few conflicts during the Cold War over the spreading of communism. The draft and the war were both points of controversy and protest.

    The fall of the Communist government in Russia was symbolicly shown by the falling of the wall. The seperation between the communistes and capitalistes was finally over in Berlin.
