Columbus discovers America
In 1492 Columbus discovers the America's by accident when searching for the Indies. He comes upon it and calls the Natives there Indians because he thinks that he is in the Indies. -

Thanksgiving
At the first Thanksgiving the settlers clebrated surviving the winter before and ate the biggest meal of the year. They had many games including shooting, horse riding, and eating contests. -
La Salle is killed
La Salle is killed by his own men on an expidition at an unknown east Texas location. -
Native Texan population reaches 42,000
During this time period the thirteen colonies had just started to settle in after the discovery of the new world. What they didn't know was that there were natives that had already claimed the land. -
First East Texas Mission
At this time the first East Texas mission began to go under construction. It was closed in 1693 and was near present day Weches. -
Texas' first recorded hurricane
Texas' first hurricane hits the island of Galveston. It began at about 10 at night. It lasted until about 3 o'clock in the morning. -
Jean Lafitte occupies Galveston
Captain Jean Lafitte occupies galveston and uses it for his base for smuggling and privateering. -

The Alamo
At the battle of the Alamo the Texans fought off the Mexican army for about a week before they brought in their reinforcements and defeated the Alamo's troops. The Alamo's troops killed about 8 men for every one of them. -

In 1836 the Population reaches 56,000 with 14,000 Native Texans on the other side of the frontier. -

The first Auction of Town lots occured on August first 1839. -
Slavery inds in Texas
In this year slavery ends in Texas and the civil war does too. During the time before now there were many slaves in the south that worked on plantations. -
Reconstruction ends
The inauguration of democratic Richard Coke as Govenor ends the Reconstruction. -
1900 Hurricane hits Galveston
The 1900 hurricane is the deadliest hurricane that has ever hit Texas. There was over 6,000 people killed because they did not have technology to know that it was coming soon enough. -
Oil is found at Spendeltop

Oil field found in East Texas
The Daisy Bradford #3 well is drilled. It was drilled near Turnnertown in Rusk county by wildcatter co. The derrick was drilled into the huge Oil Field which is mapped on the right. -
Gas Explosion kills 300
At this time a massive explosion under the London Consildated School building in Rusk county. The exact count of people killed was 311. -
Dwight D. Eisenhower becomes El Presedent'e
Dwight D Eisenhower becomes first Texas born Presedent. -
Charles Whitman kills 17

Twin towers are hit by hijacked planes
On September 11, 2001 Iraqi terrorists hijacked planes and ran them into the Twin Towers. They are belived to have been trying to bomb the White House but were unsucessful. They also bombed the pentagon.
