Stamp Act Congress
Consisted of delegates from 9 of the 13 colonies. Held in Federal Hall in New York City. (My hooood! (: ) The British Parliment imposed taxes on the colonies of British America. Had to be paid in British currency. Purpose of the tax was to help the troops stationed in North America. The British govt. felt that the colonies were the primary beneficiaries of this military presence, and should pay at least a portion of the expense. -
The Townshend Acts
A series of Acts passed by the Parliment of Great Britain relating to the British colonies in North America. There are five acts which are mentioned: the Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining. Purpose was to raise revenues in the colonies to pay the salaries of governors and judges so they would be independent of colonial control. -

The Boston Tea Party
Angry men dressed as Native American Indians called the "Sons of Liberty" aboarded three British ships and dumped five ton of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
First Continental Congress
In Phildelphia at the Carpenters Hall to respond to the Intolerable Act. The Contiental Congress was unsuccessful in halting the Intolerable Acts. Their appeal to the Crown had no effect, and so the Second Continental Congress was convened the following year to organize the defense of the colonies at the onset of the American Revolutionary War. -
Second Continental Congress
Delegates from the thirteen colonies met up in Philadelphia after the American Revolution began. This meeting managed the colonial war efforts, and moved slowly to adopt the United States Declaration. They wanted to reconvey the First Continental Congreess. -

Ended the American Revolution. The agreement granted the U.S. indepence and a significant amount western territory. Also, established peace between Britain and allied nations.
